Landscaping is a smart way to enhance the value and appearance of your property and create new spaces to enjoy. Doing your own landscaping can save money, but it helps to understand your goals and the scope of various projects. 1. Work Together

A Zen garden, for example, requires gravel, larger rocks or boulders, plants, landscape fabric, a shovel, a pruner, a rake, and a garden hose, among other materials.

7. Buy Locally

Buying online could go awry because you risk purchasing plants and materials not suited to your zone and climate. On the other hand, local stores sell only plants and materials suited to your zone.

8. Stick With Your Limitations

Doing the bulk of landscaping yourself can save a pretty bundle of cash, but listen to your gut if it tells you that an ambitious project you are considering exceeds your abilities. Landscape contractors have tremendous expertise and efficiently handle projects involving, say, pergolas, decks, patios, retaining walls, lighting options, irrigation systems, fountains, and water features if you feel you are better suited for a different type of landscaping work.
